Why Your Business Website Is Not Getting Any Enquiries (And How to Fix It)

In this post you’ll learn the main reasons why your business website is not getting any enquiries or leads, and what you can do to fix them. You don’t need to be a developer to understand this post.

A lot of business owners spend money to make a website, and then wait for the calls and messages to start coming. But after 2 or 3 months, nothing. No call, no form submission, not even a single whatsapp message. If this is happening with you, then don’t worry. It’s a very common problem and most of the time the reason is simple.

I have seen many small business websites, and the mistakes are almost the same everywhere. So lets go through them one by one.

What we’ll cover in this post.

  1. Your website is slow.
  2. Not looking good on mobile.
  3. Visitors don’t know what you do.
  4. No clear call to action.
  5. Contact form is hard or not working.
  6. No trust on your website.
  7. Nobody is visiting your website.

1. Your website is slow.

This is the first thing you should check. When someone clicks on your website and it takes more than 3 to 4 seconds to open, most of the people will just go back. They will not wait.

The most common reason is big images. Many people upload images directly from the camera or phone, which are 4MB or 5MB each. Thats why the website becomes slow.

How to fix it:

  • Compress your images before uploading (you can use free tools like TinyPNG or Squoosh).
  • Use .webp format instead of .png or .jpg.
  • Remove plugins that you are not using (if you are using WordPress).
  • Use a good hosting, don’t take the cheapest one just to save 500 rupees.

You can check your website speed on Google PageSpeed Insights. Just paste your link and it will show you the score.

2. Not looking good on mobile.

Now think about it. How many times you open a website on your phone in a day? Almost everyone does it. Today most of the visitors comes from mobile, and if your website is not responsive then they will leave in few seconds.

Open your website on your own phone right now and check these things.

  • Is the text readable without zooming?
  • Are the buttons big enough to tap?
  • Is the menu working properly?
  • Is any section going outside the screen?

If any of these is a problem then you need to fix the design for small screens. In CSS this is done using media queries, and if you are using a website builder then check the mobile view option.

3. Visitors don’t know what you do.

This one is a big mistake. Many websites have a big banner with some line like “Welcome to our company” or “We provide best quality services”. But what services? For who? In which city?

When a person lands on your website, he should understand in 5 seconds what you do. If he has to search for it, he will leave.

So the first section of your website (the top part) must have:

  1. What you do (in simple words).
  2. Who is it for.
  3. One button to contact you.

For example, instead of “Welcome to ABC Solutions”, write something like “Website design and development for small businesses in Vadodara”. See the difference? Now the visitor knows exactly where he is.

4. No clear call to action.

Call to action means telling the visitor what to do next. Like “Call Now”, “Get Free Quote”, “Book a Free Consultation” or “Whatsapp Us”.

Many websites don’t have any of this. The visitor reads everything, likes it, but then he doesn’t know what to do next. So he just closes the tab.

Add a call to action button at these places:

  • Top of the homepage.
  • After your services section.
  • At the end of every page.
  • In the header (so its always visible).

Also try to keep one main action. If you add too many options (call, mail, form, chat, visit office) then visitor gets confused.

5. Contact form is hard or not working.

This one is more common than you think. Sometimes the form is there, but the emails are not reaching to the owner. The form shows “Thank you” message, but the data is going nowhere.

So please do this today. Fill your own contact form, then check that you are receiving the mail or not. Do this test once in every month, because sometimes after the plugin update or hosting change the form stops working and nobody knows.

Also keep the form short. Name, phone number and message is enough. If you ask for 10 fields, nobody is going to fill it.

And one more thing, add your phone number and whatsapp link directly on the website. Many customers in India prefer to call or whatsapp instead of filling a form.

6. No trust on your website.

When someone is going to give you money, he wants to be sure that you are real. If your website has no address, no photos, no reviews, then it feels like fake or incomplete.

Things that build trust:

  • Real photos of your work, office or team (not only stock images).
  • Customer reviews or testimonials.
  • Your complete address and contact details.
  • About page that tells who you are.
  • Logos of the clients you worked with (if you have).
  • SSL certificate (the lock icon, your link should start with https).

If your website shows “Not secure” in the browser, then fix it first. Because that warning alone can make visitors leave.

7. Nobody is visiting your website.

Sometimes the website is fine, but the problem is that nobody is coming to it. A website is like a shop, if its in a lane where nobody goes, then no one will buy.

To get visitors you can do these things.

  1. Add your business on Google Business Profile (its free and very important for local search).
  2. Write blog posts about the questions your customers ask.
  3. Add proper title and meta description on every page.
  4. Share your website link on social media and whatsapp status.
  5. Ask your happy customers to give review on Google.

SEO takes time, so don’t expect results in one week. But if you do it regularly, you will see the difference in 2 or 3 months.

Quick checklist.

Before you leave this post, check these once on your website:

  • Opens in less than 3 seconds.
  • Looks good on mobile.
  • Clear heading that tells what you do.
  • Call to action button on every page.
  • Contact form is working (test it).
  • Phone number and whatsapp visible.
  • Reviews and real photos added.
  • Business listed on Google.

If you can tick most of these, you will start getting enquiries. And if you are not able to do these things by yourself, you can contact me or take help from a web developer who understand your business.

This may not be the complete list, something may I missed to add in it. So if you know any other reason, or if you have any question or suggestion, feel free to write them in the comment section.
